DESIGN AND BUILD
HP comes with a modern design this time with HP Probook 450 G6 containing a combination of plastic and aluminium body. This model emanates with a relatively thinner design than a usual HP laptop, with 19mm profile and 2.2 kg weight. The good thing, it allows us to open its lid with one hand and gets us an IR face recognition system as well. The keyboard is somewhat similar to its old models getting us shallow keys and a responsive typing feedback. You also get a fingerprint reader on the side, which is a plus.

The ASUS X509JA, on the other hand weighs considerably lesser than HP, staying at just 1.8 kg and 22.9mm profile. The device being lighter is more portable friendly and travel oriented. However, the body is entirely made of plastic which doesn’t feel 100% great for structural design. Unlike the HP Probook, it’s not super bendable with its lid and screen, but it includes a camera. The keyboard we get with it is rather comfortable, encompassing a tactile feedback and a decent touchpad. We don’t get a fingerprint reader here though.

DISPLAY
The display of HP Probook 450 G6 features an IPS Panel with HD Resolution of 1366 x 768. With this one, you get to witness comfortable viewing angles and high contrast ratio. The brightness level thankfully doesn’t flickers at maximum capacity and the 15.6 inch screen here turns into Retina, when viewed from a distance.
The ASUS X509JA, comparatively features a TN panel and a full HD Resolution of 1920 х 1080, which can be termed better than what HP Probook 450 G6 has to offer according to what your priority is. But, we don’t get those comfortable viewing angles with this one as it has a very mediocre contrast ratio. However, with its 15.6-inch screen you are enabled to get quick response and a contented backlight.

PERFORMANCE (CPU & GPU)

If you are comparing these two solely for performance, interestingly both don’t disappoint leading a good performance up to expectations.

With HP 450, you are getting a core-i5 processor by Intel of 8th Generation, which is undoubtedly capable of easily handling your multi-task projects, assignments or casual play time. On the top of that, following a massive RAM of 8GB allows us to experience a good hard drive speed with fast tab switching, including 256 GB of storage. The Integrated Graphics are by Intel as well, which aren’t too top-notch, but perform fairly decent for casual gaming, editing and video-binges

Now, the ASUS has slightly a prior processor model, offering us core-i3 by Intel, which doesn’t also disappoint in getting your tasks done. However, when compared to i5, it definitely can’t make it to level with it. But with this price tag, ASUS has offered us one of the credible core-i3 laptopsYou also get 4GB RAM with it unlike HP, which performs sufficient but not as swift as of HP including 256GB storage as well. Talking about the graphics, we get exactly the same graphic visuals with ASUS X509JA, so you experience almost similar graphics with both of them.

BATTERY AND PORTS

Coming to the battery performance, we get a very compatible offering with HP Probook 450 G6 with 45 Wh battery backup. The battery is able to perform for more than 8 to 9 hours with all-day web surfing, while for continuous video playback you also get almost 8 hours timingIn the Ports section, you can find two USB Type A ports (3.1), an SD card reader, a 2.0 connector, an SD card reader and a Type C port as well. The headphone jack and DisplayPort connection is also included.
On the contrary, the ASUS X509JA despite of smaller battery capacity with 32 Wh performs very well according to the listed battery power. It manages to stay longer with web surfing for almost 9 hours surprisingly and with continuous video playing it runs up to 6 hours. For ASUS X50JA, you also get a Type C port, a Micro SD card reader, an HDMI port, two 2.0 Type A ports and additionally a combo audio jack as well.

VERDICT

If you are looking for a much affordable option, the ASUS X509JA stands just at £429.99 with a great value for money. But, if you are looking for relatively better performance overall in all aspects, HP will perform better. However, if we consider the price tag, the HP 450 G6 has a visible difference being offered at £649.99. Both laptops perform greatly at their offering and manage to give efficient durability with their mentioned specs.
